И меня ты, друг, не бойся,
Красота вокруг, смотри!Ветер лёг со мною рядом,
Душу мне не бередил.
Он меня окинул взглядом:

Macao Pavilion: A Mix of CulturesPublished: 13 Sep 2009 20:51:03 PSTMacao pavillionThe Macao Pavilion is under rapid construction and has taken an initial shape, according to the website for the Shanghai 2010 Expo. The seven-story pavilion sits under the China National Pavilion and is shaped like a »rabbit lantern.»»The outer design was based on the design principles of the traditional rabbit lantern in south China,» Carlos Alberto dos Santos Marreiros, designer of the Macao Pavilion, told the Oriental Morning Post. Fluorescent panels used for the main body enable the »rabbit» to radiate various bright colors. The designer noted that in Chinese fairytales the rabbit is smart and amiable, symbolizing peace and harmony. »It is very reasonable to use the rabbit image for the pavilion, because rabbits have since ancient times been a mascot for people both in China and abroad,» he said. »It indicates that Macao, though very small, focuses on cultural multiplicity.»Marreiros, 52, is a Portuguese born and living in Macao. The idea to design the pavilion in the form of a rabbit lantern came from his childhood memories as well as those of his daughter.Covering an area of 1,000 square meters, the main building of the pavilion is 19.99 meters high, symbolizing the return of Macao to Chinese Government rule in December 1999.To save water, the whole pavilion is made of glass and steel materials that can be recycled after the end of the Expo. The pavilion’s interior design showcases new and high technologies and an eco-friendly environment. The roof and lower part of the pavilion are enveloped in transparent glass that insulates heat and reduces the noise level by 20 to 60 decibels. Visitors outside will be able to see interior displays through the glass. The upper part of the pavilion is installed with a solar power supply system to provide all the electricity the pavilion needs. Solar panels will both generate power and provide shade from sunlight. They can be turned from 30 degrees to 45 degrees as the sun moves throughout the day.All the materials used in the pavilion are environmentally friendly, including those for building and decoration, the balloons used as the head and tail of the rabbit lantern, and the multimedia equipment. The pavilion will also be equipped with a rain collection system and sewage disposal system.Multimedia technologies will be used to showcase traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting, many attractions in terms of society, economy, culture and tourism, and special traits in terms of housing and food. On top of the pavilion, a film will be screened on the roof, and a small slide will lead children to the exit. The most eye-catching part of the pavilion is the exhibition corridor, a spiral ramp that has no barriers, Marreiros said. It is a major passageway with an area of 582 square meters. It will take visitors from the ground floor to the top of the building, as well as serve as an exit for visitors.Along the two sides of the ramp, visitors will see displays showcasing the past, present and future of Macao, as well as its unique blend of Eastern and Western history and culture.ドラゴニカ rmt デモンズコード rmt 弹簧 港澳游 iris rmt -

Stumbling Blocks for China-India TradePublished: 17 Sep 2009 17:59:46 PSTSHOULDER TO SHOULDER: A Chinese soldier and an Indian soldier keep guard across barbed wire at the Nathu La Pass along the China-India border on July 5, 2006. The next day, the area was reopened to restore the border trade post after more than 40 years of interrupted useDespite the rapid development of China-India relations in recent years, trade between the two countries only takes up a fraction of their total foreign trade volumes. Economic Information Daily, a Beijing-based newspaper, has published a report on China-India bilateral economic and trade relations, offering a full picture of the existing constraints.Edited excerpts follow:Since the 1990s, China and India have enjoyed a renaissance in the development of bilateral economic and trade relations, owing to the improvement of their political and diplomatic ties. But read the statistics over the years, and one will soon discover that’s not the whole picture. Actually, China-India trade accounts for less than 2 percent of China’s total foreign trade volume and less than 6 percent of India’s total. This proves constraints exist.Poor transportation conditionsOn June 5, more than 300 commerce officials, entrepreneurs and scholars from China and South Asian countries gathered in Kunming, Yunnan Province, to discuss expanding regional economic and trade cooperation. Caught in trade deficits and economic underdevelopment, South Asian countries said conquering the ongoing financial crisis would be a big opportunity with which to open up the Chinese market, while attracting Chinese capital and technological support.Chinese-Indian trade volume, for instance, has soared to 10 times its original level in the past seven years. In 2008 alone, the figure reached $51.8 billion. Vishambhar Saran, Vice President of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, said China-India trade would further prosper as the economy improves.Li Li, a researcher at the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, said that, although China and India are connected by land, their current trade mainly passes the Strait of Malacca. However, she added, the marine route is so far away that the time and cost restrain fuller economic and trade cooperation. On the other hand, the time needed to traverse land routes has been dramatically shortened with the rebuilding of the Stilwell Road that links China and India via Myanmar and the reopening of the Nathu La Pass for border trade. But still, problems remain for a number of reasons. For example, road conditions are extremely poor, thus requiring increased road construction for areas on both sides of the border. The land and air routes that can most easily shorten China-India trade distance traverse north and northeast India, where extreme poverty has led to deterioration of basic facilities and traffic systems. All these factors pose significant challenges to bilateral trade relations.Fragile political trustChina-India trade relations are an economic issue, but political and security factors are influential, too. Generally, bilateral understandings between Beijing and New Delhi are far from sufficient due to their limited exchanges. Barring a handful of recent visits by officials, businesspeople and scholars, peoples of the two countries know little about each other’s conditions and policies. In other words, mutual trust is superficial and, in ways, fragile.Time has borne this out. Some Indians, moreover, are wary that China’s cooperation with Pakistan, a long-time nemesis, might be a threat, thus prompting them to hold a defensive posture.EXPANDING TRADE ROUTES: Workers rebuild a road 4,500 meters above sea level in Xigaze, Tibet Autonomous Region, on July 1, 2007. Economic structure needs to be adjusted to maintain growthPublished: 13 Sep 2009 12:02:01 PSTBy Liang ChenAs China’s vow to continue its stimulus plans won applause at the World Economic Forum (WEF), how to promote domestic consumption has become the hot topic among business leaders and policymakers."We have arrested the downturn in economic growth," Premier Wen Jiabao said in a keynote speech during the forum, also known as the Summer Davos Forum, last week in Dalian. He said the country’s macro-economic policy and economic stimulus package proved timely, powerful and effective.Wan Jun, a researcher into the world economy at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said "government investment in infrastructure is favorable to economic recovery and 8 percent growth seems to be easy to achieve right now."China’s GDP will expand 9.5 percent next year after an 8.3 percent gain in 2009, a Bloomberg survey of economists said yesterday. The data revealed by the National Statistics Bureau shows that China’s factory output climbed 12.3 percent last month from a year earlier and retail sales rose 15.4 percent, the biggest gain this year after accounting for seasonal distortions."The economic situation is improving, which is good," Wan said, "But how to maintain the current growth and to find a new growth point remains a tough issue for China."Wan claimed that it is crucial to stimulate domestic demand, in responding to declining exports. The same statistics show that exports in July fell for a tenth month."The other remaining question is the need to change the old economic growth pattern that was led by investment," Wan told the Global Times. "Now that we’ve survived the worst, we should make efforts to reshape a better environment for growth, instead of a large quantity of over-investment."Stimulating consumptionPremier Wen Jiabao also pointed out the urgency of reform of the economic growth pattern, saying, "To accelerate the development of service industries is a key part of structural adjustment, the key task of expanding domestic demand, and an important point in promoting the balanced growth of supply and demand."In the first half-year, the service industry accounted for 41.3 percent of the GDP of China’s economy, while the percentage in the US was around 70 percent. In China, the portion of consumption that contributed to economic growth is far smaller than that of developed countries. In July 2009, the consumption of Chinese residents contributed 35.3 percent to the GDP, while in the US and Japan the rate was 71 percent and 55 percent, respectively, according to Xinhua.Including investment, the imbalance was also affected by several other factors, such as a too-high proportion of the manufacturing industry to the GDP, underdevelopment of the services industry, and weak consumption.Li Xiangyang, deputy director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times that there was a surge in consumption in the past few months, however, its speed was "slower" than the sustainable growth needed."The gap caused by the slump of foreign demand should have been subsidized by the growth in consumption, but now it’s being filled merely with investment. So, the government should take all measures to build up the basis for prosperous consumption," Li said.Tan Yaling, a senior analyst at Bank of China, echoed Li, saying, "the growth of GDP is mainly based on investment, which is unsustainable," and suggested the government "make good efforts in optimizing economic structure."In order to pull the country out of the economic depression, Beijing vows to invest 4 trillioin stock kitchen cabinets ready to assemble kitchen cabinets エバープラネット rmt moe rmt エルソード rmt -
